Multi-activity day: intro to rock climbing and abseiling

Bank Holiday Monday: a great day in the sunshine, working for Joe at Highpoint Mountain Guides ( Joe and I took Adam and Mark, two talented teenagers on an ‘Intro to Rock Climbing’ course, and quickly realised that they could easily tick some harder climbs.

After a morning cragging at Copt Howe in the Langdale valley, we took the guys over to Cathedral Quarry in Little Langdale, to try and scare them with a 160odd foot abseil down the main wall. Mark and Adam lapped this up, but with big smiles on their faces, so we chucked a rope on a nice pumpy slate E1 for them to try their hands on. The lads did a great job on this too – impressive stuff – clearly they’re ready for bigger things, if they can convince their folks to part with some cash for more courses and shiny new climbing gear!

A great day out had by all
