SPA refresher

Following a pleasant Bank Holiday Tuesday off, it was back to it on Wednesday evening, going through some single-pitch rescue ropework with Will, who is keen to get his SPA ticked this year and signed up for our SPA refresher.

So, in the rain in a  dark Lancashire quarry, we looked at y-hang anchor set ups, bunny-ear figure of eight knots (as a nice efficient way of setting things up for a releasable group abseil) and then moved on to rescue techniques on one of the slabs. We worked through a couple of scenarios – a climber with hair stuck in the belay plate), and then a more complex scenario of a climber who needed a rescue on abseil.

A great session, made more fun by the rubbish weather.
