Multi-pitch climbing: Troutdale Pinnacle Superdirect

On Sunday, Dan and I made it out of the clag and headed up to Borrowdale in the north Lakes for a bit of personal climbing. It only rained once we’d topped out and then it only lasted a few mins.

Dan and I climbed Troutdale Pinnacle Superdirect (HVS 5a) which is a route I’ve wanted to do for some time. It was pretty good, strenuous in parts and delicate in others, with an interesting finger traverse high up on the second to last pitch. I rated it, maybe worth a couple of stars and fair at HVS we thought. Maybe 5b, but I think we went off route onto Raindrop at one point so that’ll be the 5b explained.

Raindrop (E1 5b) looks like a line I’d like to get done – I like direct, delicate face climbs, give me thin gear and delicate footwork any day!
