Gorge scrambling (ghyll scrambling) in Stickle Ghyll, Great Langdale

This afternoon, we took Hayley and Ross from Nottingham out for some gorge scrambling in Langdale. We met at the Stickle Ghyll car park and after putting on harnesses and helmets, headed for the start of the ghyll scramble up Stickle Ghyll. The rain over the last few days has done wonders for the water levels and even the easy sections were around knee deep. The small waterfalls had a fair bit of force in them – enough to make things exciting, and the larger falls made climbing straight up through the flow a fun but very wet challenge!

Hayley and Ross did great and got through all the obstacles and climbs – they even found time for a swim in a couple of the pools.

Bad news though. My camera seems to be playing up, so all the great pics that we took today are nowhere to be found. Very sad :( Sorry guys – hope the memory doesn’t fade too quickly. Here’s a photo of another group so folk can see what it’s all about.

Nice to meet you both and thanks for a great afternoon.
