Abseiling: at Cathedral with our new Indian friends

After getting dry from Church Beck this morning, we headed over to Skelwith to meet Daniel and his friend who were over in the UK from India on a work placement. The guys were up for some abseiling, so we headed over to Cathedral Quarry in Little Langdale to test their nerve.

After exploring the caverns and amazing architecture of the quarry, we rigged the smaller abseil for the first challenge. Both managed this without issue, so we stripped the ropes and headed over the way to the 160ft of vertical slate that is possible the best abseil in the Lakes.

Daniel and his friend managed this too – it takes some nerve to lean back over such an abyss, but they abseiled down confidently. We offered a second go, but this was to be a once in a lifetime experience for the boys, enjoyed but not to be repeated today!

Nice one guys and great to meet you. Great to chat about India – I can’t wait to get back out there… see you in Madurai :)
