Enjoying his first outdoor rock climb

Are you an indoor climber, wanting to make the transition to climbing outdoors? Or do you need a helping hand to learn the basic skills needed to start rock climbing? Spend 2 days with one of our experienced instructors and let us introduce you to the delights of climbing on the real stuff – Lake District rock.

At Lakeland Ascents, we pride ourselves in ensuring that your day is tailored to your own personal ambitions – we will teach you about movement on rock, safe belaying, route and venue choice, rock climbing gear, climbing grades and guidebook interpretation. We’ll help you experience the difference between Severe and HVS and take the first steps to your outdoor rock climbing career. You’ll even get an opportunity to experience multi-pitch climbing on a classic mountain route.

We can run this course for individuals or for groups, at a time that suits you.

When you are hooked by this addictive sport, then why not develop your skills further by getting involved with one of our Learn to Lead Climb or Guided Rock Climbing days.

Our rock climbing courses can be run from pretty much anywhere in the mountains of the Lake District, the Peak District, Wales or Scotland.

Ages and abilities: We can cater for all ages and abilities, from the new climber to those wanting to push their lead grade.

Group sizes and ratios: We put your safety first so the maximum instructor:client ratio that we will work to is 1:2 – if your party is bigger than 2 people then there will be more than one instructor.

Venue: We will choose a venue that suits your aspirations and minimises the travelling that you need to do. We are spoilt for choice in the Lakes, Snowdonia and in Scotland too.

Kit: We will share a kit list with you when you book, but all you really need are warm and waterproof ‘outdoor’ clothes and footwear. You can borrow harnesses, helmets and rock gear from us, but we’d advise that you use your own kit if you have it so that you can get used to using it. Rock shoes are advised to get the most out of your course. We will provide all ropes.

Times: Generally we would look to meet at around 09.30 and be finished by around 16.30. However, we believe in bespoke, tailored days so we will always do our best to work around your other commitments and time constraints.
