 Guided scrambling – classic scrambles

Let us help you to bridge the gap between mountain walking and climbing, by getting your hands on the rock and completing one of the UK’s classic graded scrambles.

Our experienced guides will take care of you as you take one of the more exhilarating ways to a mountain summit.

At Lakeland Ascents, we pride ourselves in ensuring that your day is tailored to your own personal ambitions, so if you’ve got an idea of a scramble that you’ve always wanted to do, then we will be happy to be your guide. If not, there are hundreds of great scrambling routes in the UK, so we are certain that we can find one that works for you. Here are some suggestions and ‘must-do’ scrambling classics:

The Lake District

  • The Helvellyn Traverse, taking in Striding Edge, the summit plateau and Swiral Edge
  • Blencathra (aka Saddleback) via Sharp Edge and Halls Fell Ridge
  • Pinnacle Ridge on St. Sunday Crag

Wales

  • Tryfan via the North Ridge – a classic scramble up this amazing peak, with Adam and Eve waiting for you on the summit
  • The Cneifion Arete – steep and juggy followed by an almost Alpine style ridge
  • Crib Goch – this knife-edge ridge is arguably the ‘only’ way to summit Snowdon

Scotland

  • Ben Nevis’ Tower Ridge – 700m of Diff level climbing. The UK’s only ‘true’ Alpine ridge
  • The Aonach Eagach – exposure from the start to the finish – the classic way to experience the vistas of the Pass of Glencoe
  • Curved Ridge on Buchaille Etive Mor
