Lake District guided walks

LA6 304x202 Lake District guided walks

Incredible Lakeland views

Leave the hassle and stress of navigation and route choice to us and join our mountain guides for a privately guided, tailored walk in the fells of the Lake District.

In addition to taking you on an exhilarating mountain walk, our experienced mountain guides will share their expert knowledge of the area and the flora and fauna that you encounter, leaving you having experienced more than just the views.

We have expert local knowledge of routes that are suitable for all abilities and in all seasons, from challenging high-level days to meandering strolls through the valleys and coves.

During winter you can hire crampons and an ice axe from us and receive instruction in their use as you explore the mountains under cover of a blanket of snow.

At Lakeland Ascents, we pride ourselves in ensuring that your day is tailored to your own personal ambitions – you may already have an idea of your own dream walk or the summit that you want to bag, but if not then here are some of our favourite Lake District guided walks to help whet your appetite:

Looking down to Wasdale Head

  • The Helvellyn Traverse, taking in Striding Edge, the summit plateau and Swirral Edge
  • The Langdale Pikes – Pike O’Stickle and Harrison Stickle from Langdale, taking in the remains of a Neolithic axe-factory and views of a perfectly formed glacial valley
  • Crinkle Crags – possibly the most photographed skyline in the Lake District
  • The Moseldale Horseshoe – taking in Yewbarrow, Pillar and Red Pike, with expansive views of Wast Water and beyond
  • Great Gable – great at any time of year, but particularly special on Remembrance Sunday when hundreds of walkers take to the summit for 2 minutes of mountain silence
  • The Kentmere Horseshoe – experience one of the quieter, but no less exhilarating parts of the Lake District

Awesome winter conditions

We also understand that hundreds of metres of ascent in the legs is not for everyone and often the best views of the mountains come from the valleys, cwms and corries themselves. We have many low-level guided walks in the Lake District for you to choose from too, taking in the lakes, rivers, forests and flora and fauna of our mountain environment.

Information

Each guide can take up to 6 people and costs £150, which is shared by the whole group. Get in touch for a bespoke price for bigger groups.

Time to dust off those walking boots!

Ages and abilities: We have guided walks that cater for all ages and abilities, from shorter more friendly walks to long and challenging high mountain outings! We can cater for all ages and abilities, from your children through to the more mature.

Group sizes and ratios: We run private, bespoke guided walks for just you and your party. We don’t run ‘open’ sessions like some other providers. We put your safety first so the maximum instructor:client ratio that we will work to is 1:6 – if your party is bigger than 6 people then there will be more than one instructor.

Venue: We will choose a venue that suits your aspirations and minimises the travelling that you need to do. We are spoilt for choice in the Lake District fells.

Kit:  We will share a kit list with you when you book, but all you really need are warm and waterproof ‘outdoor’ clothes and footwear.

Times: Generally we would look to meet at around 09.15 and be down off the hill for 16.30. However, we believe in bespoke, tailored days so we will always do our best to work around your other commitments and time constraints.
