10 Peaks Challenge

An awesome inversion on the 10 Peaks Challenge

With the National 3 Peak Challenge becoming more and more popular, we are often contacted about alternative challenges that can equal, if not surpass the 3 Peaks. The Lake District 10 Peaks Challenge does just this and is arguably harder than the National 3 Peaks, in that there are another 7 mountains to climb!

We offer two versions of the 10 Peaks Challenge. Both tick-off 10 serious Lake District peaks in the same 12 hour target time and both are seriously tough challenges that travel through the major ranges of the Lakeland fells.

Click the links below to find out more about each option, including prices:

  • 10 Peaks Challenge (Linear Route) – the original line. The 10 Peaks Challenge (Linear Route) is a shortened version of the super-hard Lake District 24 Peaks Challenge – the 10 Peaks Challenge being day 1 of the tougher event. Starting in Buttermere and ending in Great Langdale, the 10 Peaks Challenge is a 17 mile (27.5km) walk with around 2519m (8264ft) of ascent.
  • 10 Peaks Challenge (Circular Route) – just as hard as the Linear Route and exclusive to Lakeland Ascents; slightly different fells climbed but still visiting the major peaks of the Scafell Range including Scafell Pike itself. You’ll walk 14.5 miles (23.3km) with ~5,479ft (1,670m) of uphill. This option is becoming more and more popular due to groups wanting to simplify logistics and keep their costs down by returning to their own cars at the end of the day and avoiding having to pay extra for transport.
