Over the past couple of days, we’ve been on the hill with returning clients Scott and John who joined us last year to celebrate Scotts Stag Do. This year things were a little more serious as the guys booked for a 2-day navigation course with an overnight wild camp so that they could look at camping skills and also take in some night navigation.
In occasionally wintery weather, we headed up Wetherlam from Coniston, before tacking Prison Band and Swirl How and dropping into the beautiful valley of Seathwaite Tarn for a camp in some lovely soft evening light.
As night fell, we headed for a night navigation journey up to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston. Things were cold and wintery on the top, but the views across Coniston and the lake were worth it.
Day 2 brought a challenging low front, so heavy rain, wind and low cloud. This was a great opportunity for Scott and John to put their new skills to the test and to navigate us safely back over Goats Hause and down past Dow Crag to Coniston.
A great couple of days on the fell.
