About Lakeland Ascents

Thank you for your interest in Lakeland Ascents. Based in the picturesque English Lake District, we offer a wide range of courses, instruction, and private guiding services in the Lake District, Snowdonia, and in the Scottish Highlands through Highland Ascents. In addition, our sister company, lakedistrictactivities.co.uk, offer adrenaline-fueled adventure days and experiences, also in the Lake District mountains.

Our owner, Si Withington, is an experienced Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (MCI), technical rescue specialist, and Swift Water Rescue Technician based in the South Lakes. Si has nearly 20 years of experience in climbing, mountaineering, skiing, and trekking all over the world. He can often be found exploring the fells of the Lake District, the Highlands of Scotland, the mountains of Snowdonia, and many other ranges, including the Himalayas, High Atlas, Alps, and Tatras.

Si is also a member of Kendal’s Mountain Search and Rescue Team, which has an extensive training program that complements his formal mountain training and experience.

Our team of experienced instructors delivers all the activities and training offered by Lakeland Ascents. Although Si usually leads your activity or course, we work closely with several high-quality associate instructors to guarantee a memorable experience.
