Courses & Mountain Training

At Lakeland Ascents, we’re passionate about developing our clients’ core mountain skills. We pride ourselves on delivering quality, tailored instruction and training across several mountain disciplines.

Whether you’re new to the mountain environment and want to develop the core skills needed to make your mountain walks more enjoyable and safer, an experienced walker looking to take your navigation to an advanced level and get off the beaten track, or someone who wants to spend more time in the mountains in winter conditions, walking, climbing and mountaineering – we have something for you.

We provide one-day and two-day navigation courses, as well as bespoke courses that teach skills such as how to operate on steeper ground, how to navigate at night and in poor visibility, how to camp wild, and how to deal with unforeseen challenges such as crossing rivers or emergencies.

We also offer rock climbing courses for beginners or those wanting to develop their skills on the ‘sharp end’ by learning to lead traditional rock climbs.

During the winter months, we offer courses in Winter Skills, as well as beginner to advanced courses in Winter Mountaineering and Winter Climbing.

If you’re preparing for one of your NGB Mountain Training Awards, we can help you be 100% ready for assessment. We provide Mountain Leader (Summer) Refreshers and also Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) Refreshers for those wanting to hone their skills.
