24 Peaks Challenge

20131125 D7K3171 608x367 24 Peaks Challenge

Bowfell from Langdale – the end of day 1

Are you looking for a tougher challenge than the National 3 Peak Challenge or even its close relative, the 10 Peak Challenge? Do you want to push yourself to the limit without leaving the Lake District? If so, look no further than our 24 Peaks Challenge!

Both versions of our 24 Peaks Challenge are demanding walks that take in 24 Lake District peaks over significant mileage, and practically climb the height of Mont Blanc in just 24 hours of walking time. These are seriously tough challenges that travel through the major ranges of the Lakeland fells.

The price is just £190 per person and your group can be as big or small as you like. We have a minimum payment requirement of the value of 5 people.

We can arrange a date to suit your diary. We do not operate ‘open’ events for solo challengers to join an existing group.

Click on the links below for more information on each route option.

We offer two versions of the 24 Peaks Challenge that both tick off 24 serious Lake District peaks within the same 24-hour target time. Click the links below to find out more about each option, including prices:

24 Peaks Challenge (Linear Route) – the original line. A great route for the purist that takes in the Scafell Range on day 1 and the Helvellyn Range on day 2. You’ll walk 35 miles with 13,000ft of ascent (56km and ~4,000m of ascent) in just 24 hours on your feet. As this route is linear, you will need a dedicated driver who doesn’t go on the hill.

24 Peaks Challenge (Circular Route) – exclusive to Lakeland Ascents and just as challenging as the Linear Route. You’ll climb slightly different fells, but still visit the major peaks of the Scafell Range on day 1 and the Helvellyn Range on day 2, including Scafell Pike and Helvellyn themselves. You’ll cover 29.5 miles with 11,640ft of ascent (47.5km and ~3,548m of ascent) in 24 hours of walking.

This option is becoming increasingly popular because it simplifies logistics and keeps costs down by allowing groups to return to their own cars at the end of each day and avoid paying extra for transport, as well as having a lower guiding fee.
